Dr. Samanta Cimitan - Chief Executive Officer at Celonic Group - will be giving a lecture at Single-Use Event Basel 2026 about the role of CDMOs in advancing single-use bioprocesisng.
Over the past two decades, our industry has faced mounting pressures: accelerated timelines, diverse complex molecule types, and cost pressures to reduce the cost of drugs and increase patient access. Single-use technology combined with intensified and perfusion based bioprocessing has emerged as an agile, modular, and cost-effective alternative to stainless steel for certain molecules. For CDMOs, this shift is not optional—it is strategic. CDMOs, by their very nature, thrive on flexibility. Single-use platforms allow flexibility, cost efficiency as well reduced water and energy consumption.
About the speaker
Samanta is an expert in the CDMO industry, holding a deep and unique combination of scientific, commercial, and operational expertise. Prior to Celonic, she held several leadership positions across multiple commercial and strategy functions at Lonza for almost 13 years including Vice President of Lonza Group Operations Strategy, developing and leading transformational programs across R&D, Operations, and Commercial functions.
Samanta holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Bologna, Italy, along with a master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry.
