New MSD animal health quality laboratory completed

19 april 2026
Last week (April 14) the new MSD Animal Health quality laboratory in Boxmeer, the Netherlands was officially completed. This expansion of MSD Animal Health in Boxmeer is a direct response to the increasing demand for animal vaccines.

MSD Animal Health is one of the world leaders in the production of vaccines for animals. Boxmeer is the company's largest location for the development and production of veterinary vaccines. “We expect to need more lab capacity in the future because production demand will continue to increase. This building complements our existing capacity. In addition, we will also upgrade the existing quality labs on our site,” says Frank van Vugt, Quality Director of MSD Animal Health in the Netherlands. The next phase is the start-up and commissioning.

Preparations are in full swing: a team of 40 enthusiastic colleagues is working hard to get the laboratory ready for operational use. They will be working meticulously on the implementation of all analytical methods until early 2027. In this laboratory, animal vaccines produced in Boxmeer will be immediately tested for quality before being deployed worldwide.
